This was in addition to exhibiting her own work in exhibitions and at art fairs around the country. She then went on to build a studio called the Mineral Point (WI) Foundry and Glass Artist's Studio where she taught classes, gave demonstrations, and conducted tours and seminars. Her Master of Fine Arts degree in glass sculpture was obtained at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1977. This was followed by additional studies at Ohio State University-Athens in 1976 where she received a Master of Art degree. Upon her return, she received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1973. She studied at the Royal College of Art in London, England and the Eisch Factory in Frauanau, Germany. Robert Bailey and Doug Johnson convinced her that studying a year abroad would advance her career. If you've lost a family member or dear pet, I would like to help you and your loved ones with the process of healing. It might be the cremains reacting with the glass, or it might be the spirit making a presence. Every paperweight has its own personality. I ask each spirit of the cremains if they would like to help me with their piece, and amazing things have happened. I've always believed in spirits and the after-life. For me, this very special work was a way to start the process of healing, and I thought if I could heal this much from making something beautiful of Mulder, that others might be helped as well. I discovered that how and when the ashes were added changed the colors and designs. I added metals, and stringers, watching the ashes react inside and it was amazing. I started to work with his cremains, creating reductions working them directly into hot glass. So one morning I asked him to help me find the strength I needed to go back to work, and carrying his ashes with me, we went back in the studio together. He wasn't always in there when I blew glass, but he was always close by. It was impossible for me to go into the glass studio without Mulder. Mulder was my best friend, he was my most trusted companion, he was my child, and I loved him dearly. It started when I lost my beautiful Shepard mix dog, Mulder. The Remains to be Seen project is one of healing, preservation of memories, and love.
